Minister Suharso: Science and Technology Must Be the Solution to Development Problems

DHEAN.NEWS JAKARTA - The government has set 8 research focuses in the National Research Master Plan (RIRN) 2017-2045. These focuses include food, energy, health, transportation, engineering, defense and security, maritime affairs, and social humanities.


This was conveyed by the Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa when giving a speech at the opening of the Research and Innovation Communication Forum, Friday (11/19/2021),


"This research focus is structured to help promote science and technology as a solution to development problems," said the Minister.


On the same occasion, the Minister also emphasized the importance of human resources for the advancement of science and technology, as well as the need to encourage the capacity and capability of science and technology HR organizations to compete with the global science and technology world.


The potential role of the Science and Technology HR organization that the Minister mentioned in the space for technopreneurs, including the science and technology human resources of ASN who have business talents, the existence of a collaboration platform for angel investors and philanthropists in research that has the potential for profit, as well as the creation of a network of researchers and engineers to carry out quality research.


According to the Minister, all three important roles must be understood by all stakeholders, especially policymakers in Ministries and Institutions. Policymakers in ministries/agencies need to open up space for science and technology human resources, both ASN science, and technology human resources and science and technology human resources in the industrial world.


With the integration of asset resources, in human resources, assets, and budgets into BRIN, the opening of space for science development and technology human resources will be more possible, especially with policymakers support from ministries and institutions who provide input on research list that needs to be carried out by BRIN," he said.
